Demi Lovato is reportedly suffering from health complications at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center a week after her alleged overdose.
Six days ago, the pop superstar was rushed to the hospital after her friend called 911, but with no sirens in order to avoid media attention.
She was found unconscious at her Hollywood Hills home after partying pretty hard with her friends and was immediately treated with Narcan, a treatment for opioid overdose.
Once she gained consciousness, she was uncooperative with the paramedics, refusing to admit what she had taken.
Relapse
Lovato has been an addict in the past but marked six years of being sober back in March. Her song “Sober” revealed that she had relapsed with lyrics such as ”Mama, I’m sorry I’m not sober any more”, and “Daddy, please forgive me for drinks spilled on the floor”. Now, days after the latest relapse, the sources reveal Demi has a high fever and extreme nausea which appear to be related with the overdose. She will not leave hospital yet and will remain under the care of medical experts until she make a full recovery.
Demi was in rehab back in 2010 for addiction, bulimia and self-harm. Her team and family are still developing her rehab program after she comes out of the hospital. Family expressed thanks to everyone who shared unconditional love, prayers and support for Demi but asked fans to respect their privacy explaining that some of the information released are incorrect and that focus is completely on her recovery.
Lovato and Valderrama
Demi’s mother Dianna De La Garza and ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama are at her side, being a strong support for the singer facing these rough times. Wilmer has been to the hospital every day, spending hours at her bedside, even though they split in June 2016.
A source close to Valderrama revealed that he still loves Demi and that it is only a matter of timing and working busy schedule before they get back together. Wilmer, as well as Demi’s family were aware of her relapse since she was always honest with them, but he was not aware that this was a hard time for her at any way. The former Disney star praised Wilmer many times in her interviews and social media for saving her life and being her rock.
“After sharing my ups, putting up with my downs and supporting my recovery… he still never takes credit and I want the world to know how incredible his soul is. I really wouldn’t be alive today without him.” She wrote after being sober for three years at his side.
We hope she’ll recover fast and the two of them find their way back together.
