Talk show host David Letterman, 61, announced during a taping of his “Late Show” Monday that he and his longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko (a former “Late Show” staffer) got married on March 19 at the Teton County Courthouse in Choteau, Mont., CNN reports.
The talk show host said that he and Lasko started dating about 23 years ago.
“Regina and I began dating in February of 1986, and I said, ‘Well, things are going pretty good, let’s just see what happens in about ten years.’ I had avoided getting married pretty good for, like, 23 years, and I – honestly, whether this happened or not – I secretly felt that men who were married admired me… like I was the last of the real gunslingers, you know what I’m saying?”, Letterman joked according to transcripts from the show.
Letterman and Lasko has a son, Harry Joseph, together. He was born in 2003.
