David Beckham wants to stay in Italy

David Beckham

Soccer star David Beckham, who is on a three months loan from LA Galaxy to AC Milan, says he would like to stay with Milan.

According to the Associated Press, Beckham recently told Italian media that his time in Europe made him “rediscover himself” as a football player.

“At the moment, Milan is more important than money. I want to think about football before everything else,” Beckham said. “The immediate aim is to stay here in Milan and play at the highest level possible. This would give me the best possibility of securing a place with the England national team.”

SoccerNews.com reports that Beckham’s lawyers are already talking with Los Angeles Galaxy to sort out a deal. His current loan deal with AC Milan is due to expire on March 8, 2009.

It was only about two years ago that the British soccer player signed a $32.5 million contract to play for the LA Galaxy of the MLS for 5 years. We wonder how much money Beckham will lose in order to get out of this one? And what will his wife Victoria say about having to leave Rodeo Drive and her best friend Katie Holmes?
