In an interview in the German version of Vanity Fair, actress/Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency Angelina Jolie is quoted saying:
“Obama is fighting for international justice, he wants to intervene militarily in genocides abroad, and he wants to close down Guantanamo Bay. They are things which could move me to vote for him, not his roots.”
In addition to being one of the most famous actresses in the world, Jolie has received wide recognition for her humanitarian work. In 2003, she was awarded the Citizen of the World Award by the United Nations Correspondents Association, and two years later she received the Global Humanitarian Award by the UNA-USA. Last year, she also became a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
