Cher had a short fling with Tom Cruise in the beginning of his career – during the mid 80s.

According to reports, Cher told Oprah during her show, which will air sometime next month, that it could have been a “great big romance” if they hadn’t been forced apart by their filming schedules.

At the time of their fling, Cher was 39 years old and Tom was only 23. Now, more than 20 years later, Cher admits that she was crazy about Tom, who back then was a shy boy trying to fit in. On the show, the 61-year-old singer also talked about one particular “long night” in Tom’s arms. 

Tom’s and Cher’s relationship ended when Cruise met his future wife No 1, Mimi Rogers.
