Earlier this year comedienne and TV Presenter Chelsea Handler announced she would be leaving her E! Show ‘Chelsea Lately’ for pastures new, pastures new that were rumoured to be Netflix, and sure enough today those pastures new have been revealed as Netflix.
Chelsea, 39, has been unhappy at E! for some time and met with Howard Stern earlier this year to inform him she had planned to leave the network. Today she informed the written press of her decision to leave and confirm that the rumours are true and she will be heading to Netflix.
Speaking earlier today Handler said, “If I was going to continue working in this industry, I knew I had to do something outside the box to keep myself interested. I wanted to sit with the cool kids at lunch so I approached Netflix to make sure they were as cool as I thought they were, and when I confirmed my suspicions, like with any other future lover, I made my move.”
Asked if she was excited about her new job Handler replied, “I’m more excited than I’ve been in a while, and the team at Netflix is the most forward-thinking, alert group I’ve sat down with in ages. No offence to the Shahs Of Sunset.”
Chelsea Handler will begin her Netflix career with her comedy tour ‘Uganda Be Kidding Me’ which will be aired in October, followed by a series of special documentaries in 2015, with 2016 being the year she starts her new talk show, though as yet no further details have been released as to as when, and how often, the show will be aired.
