Kiefer Sutherland surrenders to police after allegedly head-butting designer

E! Online reports that “24” star Kiefer Sutherland has been charged with assault for allegedly head-butting designer Jack McCollough early Tuesday morning. The actor reportedly surrendered to police at the 1st Precinct in lower Manhattan for questioning yesterday.

The rumor has it that Sutherland was chatting with Brooke Shields at an after-party in Manhattan when McCollough accidentally bumped into her. Sutherland, who probably had had one too many already, insisted that the famous designer should apologize to the beautiful actress. The two men then started to argue and Sutherland allegedly head-butted McCollough, leaving him with cuts on his nose.

This isn’t the first time Sutherland is in trouble with the law. He was arrested for driving under the influence in both 2004 and 2007. Sutherland pled no contest to the 2007 DUI charge and had to serve 48 days behind bars.

Sam Shepard pleads guilty to DUI and speeding

Actor Sam Shepard, who has starred in hit movies such as “The Accidental Husband”, “The Notebook” and “Black Hawk Down”, pleaded guilty to DUI and speeding in an Illinois court room yesterday.

“I never intend to drive under the influence again… it’s not worth it,” the actor told the judge, according to the Pantagraph.com.

Shepard was arrested on January 3 in Normal, Illinois, after police stopped him for driving 16 mph over the speed limit (46 mph in a residential area). His blood-alcohol level proved to be 0.175 at the time, which is more than twice the legal limit.

The 65-year-old actor was fined $600 and court costs and has been placed on 24 months court supervision. He also has to enroll in an alcohol treatment program and complete 100 hours of community service, the Associated Press reports.

The judge has set a hearing for September 25 to review Shepard’s compliance with the terms mentioned above.

Heather Locklear’s DUI case dismissed

Former “Melrose Place” star Heather Locklear got her DUI case dismissed today. In exchange, she pleaded no contest to reckless driving - a misdemeanor.

According to TMZ.com, she will be placed on three years informal probation. The actress will also have to attend a 12-hour drug education program and pay a $700 fine.

Locklear was arrested in Montecito, CA, on September 27, 2008, and booked on charges of driving under the influence of drugs and being under the influence of a controlled substance after a “journalist” called 911, claiming that the actress was “driving erratically.”

A blood test later revealed that the Locklear had prescription medication in her system, but no alcohol or illegal narcotics.

2008 ended badly for Matt Dillon

“Crash” star Matt Dillon, 44, was arrested and charged with driving at an excessive speed after police clocked him going 106 mph on an interstate highway in Newbury Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.

Dillon is scheduled to appear in a Vermont court on Jan. 21.

If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of three months behind bars and a $300 fine.

Britney Spears’ ex-husband in jail for probation violation

Britney Spears’ first ex-husband, Jason Alexander, was arrested in Los Angeles on Wednesday for violating his probation from a DUI conviction. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail, according to the New York Daily News.

Alexander, who Britney was married to for 55 hours in 2004, was arrested for DUI two years ago and ordered to complete an alcohol education program.

The program included a visit to the local morgue, but after Alexander managed to miss two court ordered appointments at the Los Angeles County Morgue, the judge decided to lock him up.
