Blunders

Sarah Palin spent Saturday sorting clothes

Sarah Palin

The Associated Press reports that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s father, Chuck Heath, told them that his daughter spent Saturday going through her clothes, trying to figure out what belongs to the Republican Party after they reportedly spent more than $150,000 on her wardrobe for the election.

(As many of you probably remember, both Sarah Palin and Republican presidential hopeful John McCain were widely criticized after it was revealed that the Republican Party had spent tens of thousands of dollars on designer clothes for Palin from stores such as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.)

One McCain/Palin campaign aide has now told Newsweek that he/she estimates that Palin actually spent tens of thousands more on clothes and accessories than the reported $150,000, and that between $20,000 and $40,000 in fact were spent on clothes for Palin’s husband (!).

Mickey Rourke apologizes for antigay slur

Mickey Rourke

When a paparazzo outside a Los Angeles nightclub asked Mickey Rourke yesterday about the recent reports linking him to Evan Rachel Wood, the following thing came out of his mouth:

“She’s a good friend, that’s it. Tell that f—-t who wrote all that shit in the paper I’d like to break his f–king legs.”

But after a video of the whole thing hit the Internet (see video below), Rourke released a statement to E! Online saying that he regrets his little outburst.

“I want to sincerely apologize for the derogatory word I used. It was insensitive and inappropriate of me and I am deeply sorry that I may have offended anyone,” he says in the statement.

Don’t mess with Bill Murray

Bill Murray

Actor Bill Murray, 58, is usually a really nice guy, unless you bump into him and don’t apologize, according to the New York Post’s Page Six.

The actor was reportedly in the middle of Times Square to celebrate Barack Obama’s election when a smaller guy bumped into him.

The man allegedly didn’t apologize, which made Murray furious. According to the tabloid, a fight erupted and fists flew until police came and removed the actor’s unapologetic enemy.

No arrests were made, according to Page Six.

Madonna Slams London

Madonna, on stage with a few new digs at ex Guy, apparently has decided that the city which housed her and contains a plethora of fans is also to blame for her woes.

Singing onstage last night, Madonna, also being termed “the bitter old broad” is apparently hitting a new low with her sniping.. dedicating a song to everyone who had been screwed over when a friend slept with their husband..

When singing, when she got to the phrase London, she held her nose, as if indicating that the capital stunk, which didn’t impress most of her UK fans.

Simpsons Criticized by Gay Rights Group

THE SIMPSONS  isn’t politically correct??The Halloween episode used a phrase  “That’s so Gay!” and in response is being criticized by a gay rights.

According to TMZ, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Newtork (GLEN) were unhappy that the show’s creators allowed the character Nelson Muntz use the phrase to Milhouse Van Houten.

“Nelson’s use of ‘that’s so gay’ in a negative way is not surprising considering that 90 percent of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth say they hear the term used this way frequently or often at school,” said GLEN in a statement.

“Nelson should visit ThinkB4YouSpeak.com where he can send an apologetic e-card to Milhouse. GLSEN would also welcome Nelson’s participation in our next PSA so he can make amends by helping to educate young people about why such language is wrong.”

The show’s creators have not yet commented on the complaints.

Another such blunder occurred not too long ago when there was an objection to the word niggardly, which was considered poor phrasing by minority groups and activists alike, who apparently didn’t bother to research the fact  that the word had nothing to do with the racial slur, but in fact is based on a Norwegian word that has its origination in the 1500’s.

One wonders why this activist group has not complained about the myriad other politically incorrect comments on the Simpsons??.

Stupid is as stupid does

Courtenay Semel

A security guard working at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas is suing the daughter of former Yahoo! CEO Terry Semel for allegedly hitting him, according to TMZ.com.

The security guard claims he was about to handcuff a very intoxicated Courtenay Semel at the nightclub PURE last August, when she suddenly hit him in the face and said:

“Do you even know who I am, f**king idiot?…Google me, you dumb f**k.”

The security guard reportedly says he was humiliated by the incident and that he has been “anxious about receiving harassing comments by friends…”
