MarketWatch.com reports that Angelina Jolie has been named “Most Powerful Actress” in the 2009 edition of the Guinness World Records, while her husband, Brad Pitt, has been named “Most Powerful Actor” – a title the famous scientologist/actor Tom Cruise previously held four years in a row.

Republican presidential hopeful John McCain has picked 44-year-old Sarah Palin, the Governor of Alaska, as his running mate.

And for those of you who have never ever heard of this lady before, we have put together a short list of facts & trivia. Enjoy!

• Sarah Palin is the first female Vice Presidential candidate representing the Republican Party and the second female Vice Presidential candidate representing a major political party.

• In 1984, Palin was the runner-up in the Miss Alaska pageant.

• She was elected Governor of Alaska in 2006.

• She opposes same-sex marriage.

• Palin is strongly opposed to abortion and supports capital punishment.

• She has a BA in journalism from the Univeristy of Idaho, where she also minored in politics.

• She has admitted that she used marijuana when it was legal in Alaska, but says that she did not like it.

• She hunts, eats moose hamburgers, ice fishes, rides snowmobiles, and owns a float plane.

Michael Jackson turns 50 today and to honor this happy occasion we have compiled a list of facts, strange rumors and weird things the megastar has done or been through over the years:

• The doors to Michael’s famous Neverland Ranch in California are now closed, but during the 80s some tabloids claimed that the megastar had built a runway for UFOs on the property.

• Michael Jackson is Nicole Richie’s godfather.

• The rumor has it that Michael used to have long phone conversations with Princess Diana about the downsides of being a celebrity.

• Even though Michael denies it, several cosmetic surgery experts claim he has undergone multiple nasal surgeries, a forehead lift, thinned lips and a cheekbone surgery.

• In 1985, Michael rescued Bubbles the chimpanzee from some kind of testing facility in Texas. Michael and the monkey became good friends and the rumor has it that Bubbles even had his own bodyguards and that he and Michael shared the same bathroom.

• Michael married the nurse Debbie Rowe in 1996. The couple had two children together before they went their separate ways. According to some sources, Rowe still receives about $900.000 a year from the pop star.

• Actor Macaulay Culkin and Elisabeth Taylor are godparents to Michael’s two oldest kids.

• In 1992, Michael announced that his pale skin was a result of a skin disease called vitiligo.

• In 1986, the tabloid press ran a story claiming that Jackson slept in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to slow the aging process. This claim was later said to be false.

• For a while, some people were talking about the possibility that Michael and his sister La Toya was the same person… This rumor proved to be false, of course!

Entertainment Weekly, which offered a quick sneak peek at the new Harry Potter movie got the surprise of its life when it turned out that it was “WAY” early.

At the last minute, Warner Brothers had announced that it pulled Harry Potters latest and purportedly greatest adventures, and wouldn’t release the movie in the late fall as per its earlier schedule.

They have slated it for a mid summer release now in 2009,  offering up reasons that probably make sense from the business end of things, but certainly don’t to fans.

Harry Potters new movie however is the cover of Entertainment Weekly’s fall preview magazine in all its glory this week. We picked up the news a couple days ago, but apparently Entertainment Weekly missed it?

The ironic and amusing part of that is, that  Entertainment Weekly, and Warner Brothers share  a parent company.  Apparently the only thing they don’t share, is  information.
