California Attorney General Jerry Brown said at a press conference Friday that Howard K. Stern was “the principal enabler” in providing Anna Nicole Smith with the prescription pills that ultimately led to the former Playboy Playmate’s 2007 death.
Brown said Stern conspired with two doctors, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor and Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, in “prescribing drugs excessively to a known addict”, but he didn’t say if he thought Stern was responsible for Smith’s death or not – he just stated that he holds Stern responsible for all the charges brought against him.
Stern and Kapoor were arrested and charged earlier this week for allegedly conspiring to fuel an addict – Anna Nicole Smith – with prescription drugs between July 2004 and January 2007. They were released after posting $20,000 bond. Dr. Eroshevich, a psychiatrist, is expected to surrender next week.
Arraignments have been scheduled for May 13, according to E! Online.
In the wake of Ms. Smith’s death, forensic psychiatrist, Michael Welner, M.D. was heavily involved with the questions that arose from the subsequent death investigation http://a.abcnews.com/US/Story?id=2861902&page=3.
With the recent suspicion and arrest of Smith’s boyfriend, the insights provided by Dr. Welner about Sterns culpability are very intriguing http://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=2982406&page=1.
