British Music Star Adele Quits Tour Due to Vocal Cord Damage

Adele was forced to cancel her last two shows on Wembley Stadium scheduled for Saturday 1 July and Sunday 2 July, leaving 100,000 fans disappointed.

After struggling to complete the previous two shows, she suffered vocal cord damage and was told to rest her voice.

Vocal Cord Damage

The cancelled shows would be her 122nd and 123rd shows – a record breaking feat on a tour that has already passed by several milestones in almost all the cities she’s sang.

The singer, 29, revealed on social media that she felt devastated she couldn’t complete the tour and asked fans to forgive her. She tried to explain that she struggled vocally at the last two concerts and couldn’t give her best but described those concerts as the best of her life. She admitted to already trying everything to finish her huge world tour that lasted 15 months but conceded defeat in the end.

This is not the first time Adele had issues with her throat. The famous singer already cancelled two tours in 2011 because of a vocal cord haemorrhage and had a surgery to remove polyps in her throat.

Fans show support

The star broke the news on Twitter saying she had been forced to rest on doctor’s orders and the news caused a very strong fan reaction on social media. The supporters flocked to send her their good wishes and reminded people that her health comes first.

Some loyal fans even went to Wembley Stadium to show love and support for the star. They have held their own sing-a-long in honour of the British singer. One fan wrote on Instagram “You couldn’t perform for us so we performed for you”.

Adele is yet to respond to this outpouring of support but it will surely give her spirits a boost as she continues her recovery.

Her team hopes to reschedule the concerts but they would probably be her last ones as she already hinted that she’s done touring for good.

“Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn’t suit me particularly well. I’m a real homebody and I get so much joy in the small things. Plus, I’m dramatic and have a terrible history of touring. Until now that is!”, Adele said.
