Brad Pitt and his partner, Angelina Jolie recently made a donation to the state of Missouri. Their generous contribution of $500,000 to The Community Foundation of the Ozarks will go towards rebuilding the area of Joplin after it was recently ravaged by tornadoes.
Pitt grew up in nearby Springfield, Missouri and his mother went to school in Joplin, graduated from Joplin High School in 1958.
In a press statement, Pitt has said, “With the devastating loss of thirty per cent of the city, the Joplin community faces great challenges ahead. Having spent much of my childhood there, I know these people to be hardworking, humble and especially resilient.”
“The locally based Community Foundation of the Ozarks will be working shoulder to shoulder with these Joplin residents for the long haul as they rebuild their lives. We, too, hope to further help with these rebuilding efforts.”
Pitt and Jolie are well known for their charity work. The couple established a charitable organization in 2006, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, to aid humanitarian causes around the world.
