Boy George is a free man again!

Boy George

British singer Boy George (real name: George O’Dowd) was released from prison yesterday, BBC News reports.

The former Culture Club member was sentenced to 15 months behind bars by a London court for assault and false imprisonment of a male escort in 2007.

The victim – a Norwegian male escort by the name of Audun Carlsen – claimed that Boy George handcuffed him to a wall in the singer’s London apartment and beat him with a chain because he did not want to have sex with him. During the entire trial, Boy George denied falsely imprisoning Carlsen. However, he admitted that he actually handcuffed the man to a wall.

The 47-year-old singer, who was released on parole after serving only four months of his sentence, says the time behind bars “went fine”. “It’s great to be out. It’s a bit daunting, but it’s nice,” he is quoted as saying by Contactmusic.com.

This is not the first time this 80’s pop star has been in trouble with the law. Three years ago he was given community service in New York after pleading guilty to falsely reporting a break-in at his apartment.
