Bill Murray’s career is still going strong at nearly sixty, and it looks to us as though he’s got a long ways to go.
In point of fact, he had about thirteen thousand feet to go this weekend.
Bill, star of stage, screen and telly, most noteably Ghostbusters and Lost in Translation, strapped himself into a parachute and then jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. (Despite his rather publicly nasty divorce, depression wasn’t the cause.) The stunt was in honor of and to kick start the 50th annual Chicago Air and Water show.
BIll Murray, a Chicago native had this to say about his stunt.
“It seemed like a good idea at a time,” (incidentally, it is reported that during the free fall from the plane, Murray played air guitar) . “I’ve had second thoughts, believe me. I’ve been really nervous. All the jokes from involve death.”
Apparently he landed safely. He reportedly pretended to stagger, grinned at the crowd and moved off to shake some hands.
