Last month we brought you the news that Canadian rock chick Avril Lavigne was to marry Chad Kroeger from Nickleback, but she was refusing to give anything away about the plans she had for the couples big day. The big day finally arrived and the couple tied the knot on Canada Day at a Medieval Castle in the South of France.
Speaking to Hello Magazine last month Lavigne, 28, said, “I’m planning a wedding. Some things will be a surprise, some things will be what he likes and still will surprise him.”
The wedding finally took place at the Château de la Napoule near Cannes on Monday of this week in what was a Gothic inspired themed wedding. Speaking about her big day to Hello Magazine Lavigne said, “I wanted to make sure it’s a crazy vacation and an experience of a lifetime for our guests. I wanted it to be over the top. I’m obsessed with castles and I love French décor and Goth. I found this castle in France and we visited it and it was perfect.”
Kroeger was equally as happy as his new bride saying, “When you’ve got that ring on your finger that you get to look at every single day, and you get to call that other person husband or wife, it’s a really special feeling.”
It is every girls dream to get married in a castle and when you add in the back drop of the South of France what more could a girl want, only to then go and spoil it with a Gothic themed wedding, but as long as they are happy together does it really matter?
