“Modern Family” star Ariel Winter, 14, was ordered by a judge to leave the care of her mother as the latter faces serious charges of physical and emotional abuse. After a guardianship hearing on October 3, the court judge had determined that the allegations against the actress’ mother, Crystal Workman, were pretty serious to have her in temporary guardianship of her older sister Shanelle Workman.
Crystal Workman was ordered to stay away from the actress for at least 100 yards. Older sister Shanelle had also suffered the same abuse as her younger sister. About two decades ago, Child and Family Services has removed Shanelle from her mother’s home for the same abuse allegations. She was placed in foster care for more than two years and never went back to her mother’s home.
But Ariel did not want her personal issues to get in the way of her career. She refused to miss a day at work and so goes to the “Modern Family” set sans her mother. She went back to the set, where she plays the character of Alex Dunphy, wearing a brave face for the media. The judge had set another court hearing on November 20.
In another report, Crystal Workman denies the allegations and insists that she did not abuse her daughter and said that the actress was making up stories because Ariel wanted to be with her 18-year-old boyfriend.
