Chicago Bears defensive end Gaines Adams passed away early this morning at age 26 in South Carolina.
Adams was rushed to the emergency room where he was pronounced dead at 9:00 AM, according to ESPN.
Greenwood County Coroner James T. Coursey said the preliminary autopsy indicates that Gaines Adams died of cardiac arrest which was caused by an enlarged heart.
The Chicago Bears statement : “We are stunned and saddened by the news of Gaines’ passing. Our prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”
