In 2016, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, the cause being irreconcilable differences.
It was announced last week that the Hollywood super couple was granted a dissolution in the status of their marriage.
After they were married in August 2014, Jolie added Pitt’s name to her surname.
Now, according to the court papers, as a part of the dissolution of their legal union, Jolie restored her name officially to Angelina Jolie.
This is not the first time the 43-year-old actress and humanitarian dropped an extra surname.
In 2002, the actress, born as Angelina Jolie Voight, petitioned the court to legally drop Voight from her name, on account of estrangement from her father Jon Voight.
Continue to Work on Custody
Jolie and Pitt met on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith and have six children together: Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 12 and 10-year-old twins, Vivienne and Knox.
Since the split, both actors have tried to remain silent on the subject of divorce, but Pitt opened up about their separation in 2017 saying: “You spend a year just focused on building a case to prove your point and why you’re right and why they’re wrong, and it’s just an investment in vitriolic hatred. I just refuse. And fortunately, my partner agrees. It’s just very, very jarring for the kids to suddenly have their family ripped apart.”
Even though they are officially divorced, they will continue to work out issues such as custody, according to Atlanta-based divorce attorney Randy Kessler.
Remaining Professional
It is clear that the former Hollywood couple will not let personal problems interfere with their careers.
Jolie is preparing to return to the big screen in a sequel to Maleficent in October this year, and has revealed she might be open to a potential future in politics in the US.
Meanwhile, Pitt will star in a new Quentin Tarantino movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie.
