Popular surfer, Andy Irons, was found dead in a hotel room this morning. The police team investigating his death found a number of prescription drugs in Iron’s room.
Earlier, there were rumors that methadone was discovered in the room as well. However, the investigation report did not include any mention of methadone.
Iron, a champion surfer, was found in his bed underneath the sheets. There was no evidence of a struggle or anything untoward. It seems that whatever happened was not at the hands of anyone else.
The two prescription drugs found in the room were generic Xanax (alprazolam) and Zolpidem, which is a generic form of Ambien.
Both were on a table close to his bed. It is very likely that a toxicology test will be taken. However, it will take a few weeks to get the reports back. It looks like everyone will simply have to wait and see what the results are.
Wow, what a tragic story. My condolences to the family.
