Actor/political activist Ron Silver, who was Emmy-nominated for his role as presidential campaign advisor Bruno Gianelli on the hit television drama “The West Wing,” died Sunday of cancer. He was only 62 years old.
“Ron Silver died peacefully in his sleep with his family around him early Sunday morning,” said Robin Bronk, executive director of the Creative Coalition, which Silver helped found.
Silver had been fighting esophageal cancer for two years.
Silver’s movie credits included Billy Crystal’s “Mr. Saturday Night” (1992), “Timecop” (1994) starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, Michael Mann’s “Ali” (2001) – just to name a few.
