An all-out Twitter war waged between singer-actress Rihanna and “Fashion Police” host Joan Rivers. This was after Rivers ignited the war between the two when she tweeted her reaction on the singer’s recent interview with Oprah Winfrey. This was after the singer shared her feelings about ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.
Rivers tweeted, “Rihanna confessed to Oprah Winfrey that she still loves Chris Brown. Idiot! Now it’s MY turn to slap her”.
Rihanna retaliated tweeting on her own account, “CONTROL YOUR SPEECH,” but she did not mention Rivers’ Twitter handle. She also linked a photo to the tweet of a book that explained a Bible passage about offending speech. The Twitter war did not stop there as Ri-ri tweeted, taking a stab at Rivers’ age saying, “wow u really do get slow when you’re old huh,” which she later deleted from her account.
However, RIhanna did save one more tweet targeting Rivers’ bladder control implying her age. She tweeted, “Slap on some diapers,” and Rivers did not seem to want to back down as well. She threw in her own tweets addressing Rihanna’s Twitter handle.
Rivers said, “Honey, @Rihanna, everyone knows: If he hit you once, he’ll hit you again. Read the statistics. PS – Love to have you on Fashion Police”. This served as her peace offering to the singer as Rivers tried to end their war on Twitter.
It was in 2009 when Rihanna had been beaten by then boyfriend singer Chris Brown. Brown was 19 at that time and pleaded guilty to charges of assault. He was sentenced to five years on probation, community service and domestic violence counseling.
