An accident on the set of Resident Evil: Retribution 3D sent 10 people to hospital earlier this week. The cause was a shifting set piece which sent extra’s plummeting two floors to the ground. Luckily no-one has been seriously hurt.
A spokesman for Toronto Police Services Constable Victor Kwong, spoke to E! News about the incident;
“The platform shifted—it did not collapse,” says Kwong. “The sudden movement injured 16 people. They all have various injuries, and 10 of those 16 have been taken to a local hospital. None of the injuries are life-threatening. The most serious injury out of those sent to the hospital was a back injury.”
No lead actors were on set at the time of the accident, all the injuries were sustained by ‘extra’s’.
Davis Films/Impact Pictures and Constantin Film International released a joint statement.
“It is with regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident,” their statement continued with “The thoughts of everyone involved in the production are with those who have been injured, and we hope that all have a quick and complete recovery. The filmmakers are continuing to work closely with the authorities in responding to this accident.”
Star of the Resident Evil Franchise, Milla Jovovich has been to the Toronto hospital to visit a woman who still remains in hospital with back injuries.
